Pastor Shadday's: From the Word

“The fruit of the Spirit is . . . . kindness”  Galatians 5:22

What you see is what you get.  Most of us have heard and used this phrase.  In the case of the fruits of the Spirit this is doubly true.  Our word for this month is a classic example.       The Greek term used here is found in relatively few places in the New Testament.  It means, “uprightness, kindness” as a condition of the person.  A person is upright as a result of the grace of God.  This term also means, “kindness, goodness, generosity.”  These are traits that are shown to others.

The point is that how God makes you by faith (upright) is lived out in everyday behavior.  The condition of our hearts and lives that God grants by faith is demonstrated in the generosity (kindness) shown in daily life.
This discussion begins, like all others, with Jesus.  Jesus is the incarnation of kindness (uprightness) and lived in constant kindness (generosity) toward others.  Titus refers to this term in saying that kindness appeared in Jesus and, as a result, He saved us.  Salvation is the act of generosity that the kindness of God produced.
By faith, God has made us upright.  That is demonstrated in our lives by the kindness we show others.  Most of the time we don’t give this a thought.  God works this fruit in our lives and we express it in simple service and love for others.  We don’t think we have done anything extraordinary, because God is at work in us for the benefit of those to whom we are kind.  We don’t pat ourselves on the back for this, because this kindness is directed toward others, not ourselves.  We don’t keep track of these acts of kindness.  They are not about us.
We notice this trait in others, and thank God for it.  We can all recite instances when someone showed us the kindness of Christ and impacted our lives.  God has touched other lives through each of us in the same way.  This fruit is produced by God for His       purpose.  His purpose is to fill people’s lives through this fruit.  The kindness of God appeared in Jesus.  It continues in those through whom He continues His work.  Be who God has made you so that what others see is what others get.

 School Scoop

Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not
 turn from it” Proverbs 22:6

God is good, all the time!
And all the time, God is good!

God is continually showing us how good He is here at school.  We have had a great beginning to our school year.  He provides for all of our needs.  He sends to us the families that need to be here.  Our families are enthusiastic and very willing to volunteer.  The children are getting along.  The school staff seems to be enjoying their classes.  So, we lift our hands in thanksgiving to our wonderful and faithful Father!  Everyday, I give Him praise for His many blessings.  I pray that we continue to give our time and talent to the Lord.  I pray our school year will be pleasing to God!  Please continue to lift the school, staff, and the school families to God!  Praise Him!
God is good, all the time!
                                                             And
All the time, God is good!
Look for our “Thankful Hands” bulletin board!  We have sent out praying hands for the families to write or draw the blessings they have received from God.
We will be having our school pictures on Friday, November 14 by Inter-State Studios.  We thank the Higgens and Kemper families for providing us with the opportunity to have our school children get their pictures taken.
We will be celebrating Special Friend Day this month.  The students will invite an adult friend to visit our school for a special time of thanksgiving with them.  We will enjoy food, fun, songs, fun, crafts, and more fun!  Our Special Friend days will be held on November 25 and 26 in the Great Room.
Thanks to all of you for your donations of cardboard paper towel tubes and cardboard egg cartons.  We now have a nice supply of them.  Currently, you do not need to save them for us.  Our stock over-floweth!
Our Thanksgiving break is Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28. Lift up your hands to the Lord in thanksgiving!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Mrs. Beth Larimore, Director

November Memory Verses

Ephesians 2:4-7 (ESV)
[4] But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,  [5] even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— [6] and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,  [7] so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:12-14 (ESV)
[12] Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,  [13] bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.  [14] And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Titus 3:4-7 (ESV)
[4] But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,  [5] he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,  [6] whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,  [7] so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

FALL PLAY
Mark your calendars for November 20 and 22 as the LHSI Theatre Department presents “Nothing But the Truth”, based on the young adult novel by Avi. Philip Malloy is sent out of Margaret Narwin’s homeroom for creating a disturbance by singing the national anthem instead of standing at “respectful, silent attention” as instructed. When Philip is finally    suspended for refusing to apologize, what is initially a classroom incident between a student and teacher suddenly becomes a national news story as newspapers and radio talk show hosts learn of the boy who was suspended for singing the national anthem. By the end of the play, the questions remain. Why do the versions differ? And who is telling the truth? There are no easy  answers presented in this play, which is ultimately concerned with the critically important issues of respect, personal freedom, and patriotism. Performances are Thursday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.. Tickets are $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for students and seniors, and $3.00 for elementary children.
