“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is a small, caring, congregation with an emphasis on fellowship among members and sharing the Gospel with others. Thus, the majority of us are involved in a Mercy Ministry in one way or another.
The design of St. Paul’s Mercy Ministry is to help turn a person’s life around by meeting some of their basic needs such as clothing and food, and then meeting their eternal life saving need for the Gospel.
At the present time, we are supplying food to those who come to our church asking for help, and in some cases financial aid through the Good Shepherd Fund.
Our Youth Group is active in collecting food and clothing that we share with two Lutheran inner city churches and the people in their neighborhoods. The Youth Group also has a Garage Sale, where they price things at very low prices so people can buy some of the things they need.
St. Paul’s Ladies Aid group supports various mercy projects during the year such as the World Relief quilt ministry, cards for shut-ins, and the Angel Tree Christmas gift ministry, just to mention a few.
Our future goal is to coordinate a Mercy Ministry among the various Lutheran Churches in the Indianapolis area in order to provide food and clothing relief to those in need and to share the Gospel.
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:40
