Stewardship
Here is an example of our
Stewardship devotions.
Salvation
“Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good, for His mercy endures
forever” These words begin many Psalms. They point out our reason for
giving thanks. These days we are given many reasons for thanksgiving,
and we should give thanks for all gifts. But the one, overwhelming
reason for giving thanks is found in the mercy of God, as shown us in
Christ. As we begin devotions on stewardship, we must begin with this
in mind. When we ask ourselves what we have to be thankful for, we
begin at the cross where we see the blood of Jesus shed for the
forgiveness of our sins. We then go immediately to the empty tomb to
see Christ risen, that we may have the assurance of eternal life. If
this is not reason to thank God, then there is none. When we see the
cross and empty tomb we understand the words “Behold what manner of love
the Father has given unto us, that we may be called the sons of God.” (1
John 3:1) Our response to God in using His gifts and giving to the work
of his kingdom is centered in what Christ has done for us by His death
and resurrection. He is our reason for giving. Our Savior is not only
our hope and joy, He is our sole motivation for using God’s gifts. We
begin our consideration of how to use God’s gifts by considering His
everlasting mercy.
